Indiana Jones 5

Indiana Jones 5 is only a few months away. The movie will be released on June 30, 2023, according to a Lucasfilm panel at the Star Wars Celebration. While the film isn’t due out for another year, fans were given a sneak peek of Harrison Ford in his classic Indiana Jones suit.

While little is known about the fifth edition in the renowned franchise, Harrison Ford and director James Mangold (Logan) attended the discussion to promote the film. People in the audience, of course, went insane.

UPDATED with a first look photo: Harrison Ford announced the release date of Indiana Jones 5 on June 30, 2023, at the Lucasfilm panel at the Star Wars Celebration on Thursday.

In the latest edition of the franchise, Ford reprises his role as Harrison Ford. He assured the audience today that the picture is virtually finished and would contain John Williams’ soundtrack once again.

Before Ford was presented, Williams joined the ceremony to command the live orchestra in his Indiana Jones theme. The group also performed the first live performance of the Obi-Wan Kenobi theme, which was led by the Star Wars music maestro. The first two episodes of that series, starring Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, will premiere on Disney+ on Friday.

Indiana Jones 5 will be directed by James Mangold, who will succeed Steven Spielberg. The script was co-written by Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth, and Mangold. There have been no plot details published, and none were stated during today’s press conference, but Ford, Mangold, and executive producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall did reveal the first image from the film:

Indiana Jones 5 was scheduled to be released on July 10, 2020, and then again on July 29, this year, but production was put on hold due to pandemic delays and Spielberg’s commitment to finishing West Side Story.

Antonia Banderas, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, and Toby Jones round out the ensemble group.

Producers include Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel.

The Indiana Jones film franchise has grossed nearly $2 billion globally after four instalments.

Today’s Star Wars Celebration panel featured a mix of Lucasfilm news and fan feedback. The panel began with information on the Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series, followed by information on the Diego Luna-led Andor and Season 3 of The Mandalorian. A new trailer for the Willow series was released, as well as confirmation that Jude Law will star alongside Jon Watts and Christopher Ford in the upcoming Star Wars series Skeleton Crew.
