Aaron Rahsaan Thomas and Shawn Ryan created the hard-hitting US police procedural action-drama TV series S.W.A.T.

The successful TV drama follows Sergeant Daniel Harrelson, played by Shemar Moore, who is nominated for numerous Primetime Emmy Awards.

S.W.A.T. (short for “Special Weapons And Tactics”) follows a police sergeant who leads a highly-trained team tasked with combating Los Angeles’ most vicious criminal gangs.

“Torn between devotion to his hometown and dedication to his brothers in blue, Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson struggles to bridge the barrier between his two worlds and acclimatize to his new obligations as the legal guardian of a teenager,” according to a statement on the CBS website.

The program has been praised for its ability to deal with culturally sensitive subjects, such as long-standing conflicts between officers and the African-American community.

Will There Be A ‘S.W.A.T’ Season 6?

Shemar Moore, the show’s executive producer, appeared to confirm that the show has been renewed for a sixth season.

On April 9, the American actor turned to Instagram to alert his 4 million fans that a sixth season of “kicking ass” will be airing soon.

“Aaaayyeeeee!!!!” he wrote. Fans, Homies, and Baby Girls!!!!! You heard it first here!!!” SEASON 6 of @swatcbs has been renewed!!!!!! ROLL SWAT BABY, another year of Kicking Ass is on the way.”

The announcement aligns with anxieties expressed by some S.W.A.T. fans who believe Lina Esco’s time on the program is coming to an end. In season 5, S.W.A.T. celebrated its 100th episode, “The Fugitive,” which featured bodycam footage from a local television station that appeared to show Hondo shooting two police officers.

The first episode of the current season of S.W.A.T. aired in October of last year, and it has aired pretty frequently since then, with the exception of brief pauses in December and January, with tonight’s season finale ending in a usually spectacular fashion.

As of this writing, there is no information on when the sixth season will premiere.

However, based on prior seasons’ patterns, season six of S.W.A.T. might air between October and November 2022.
