The Last Voyage of the Demeter, a forthcoming horror film from Universal Pictures, has had its release date pushed back. The Last Voyage of the Demeter, which was originally scheduled to be released on January 27, 2023, will now be released in the summer of that year, on August 11, 2023. The film will have a wide theatrical release and appears to be limited to theatres only. Corey Hawkins (Macbeth: A Tragedy), David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad) (The Childhood of a Leader), Aisling Franciosi (The Nightingale), and Javier Botet feature in The Last Voyage of the Demeter (It). Botet is known for roles such as Slender Man and the Crooked Man in The Conjuring 2, and he will play Dracula in The Last Voyage of the Demeter, so expect a terrifying portrayal of one of pop culture’s most famous vampires.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter is an adaption of Bram Stoker’s Dracula chapter “The Captains Log.” Several personalities will be followed aboard the merchant ship Demeter in this film. Demeter is transporting unmarked wooden crates on its route to London. Every night, a sinister entity stalks the crew until the Demeter lands in England in dreadful shape and with no one on board. Clemens, a doctor who boards the Demeter, will be played by Hawkins. Cunningham and Dastmalchian will portray the captain and first mate of the ship, respectively, while Franciosi will portray a stowaway.

André vredal, who directed Trollhunter, The Autopsy of Jane Doe, and most recently Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, is directing The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Bragi F. Schut, Stefan Ruzowitzki, and Zak Olkewicz wrote the script for the film. The rest of the cast includes Jon Jon Briones, Stefan Kapicic, Nikolai Nikolaeff, Woody Norman, Martin Furulund, and Chris Walley. The gothic horror film is produced by Brad Fischer, Mike Medavoy, and Arnold Messer, with Matthew Hirsch serving as executive producer.

Hawkins, who stars in the next film, has previously appeared in films like Non-Stop, Straight Outta Compton, Kong: Skull Island, BlacKkKlansman, 6 Underground, and In The Heights. Hawkins has also starred in The Walking Dead and 24: Legacy. In addition to this picture, the actor appears to be having a bit of a moment right now, with a forthcoming major part in the newest adaptation of The Color Purple.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter began filming in Berlin in June 2021, then moved to Malta before wrapping in October of the same year.
