Twentieth Century Studios has announced an August 5 release date for Prey, their upcoming Predator prequel. The film will only be available to stream on Hulu, avoiding a theatrical release. The film will be distributed by Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ in the remaining countries. Prey is set in the Native American Comanche Nation 300 years before the rest of the Predator films and has a cast of mostly Native and First Native actors, including Amber Midthunder, Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, and Michelle Thrush, and Julian Black Antelope.

Prey tells the story of a young, well-prepared champion who is determined to protect her camp no matter what. The fighter decides to pursue and battle an unknown foe who has been concentrating on her camp. However, it is soon discovered that the adversary is a super-strong extraterrestrial known to the general public as the Predator. A mysterious trailer for Prey was also released recently, which only hinted at the existence of Predator. The film has been described as depicting the first time a Predator came to Earth.

Dan Trachtenberg is in charge of Prey, which is based on Patrick Aison’s content. Trachtenberg is best known for directing 10 Cloverfield Lane and a few episodes of the successful programmes The Boys and Black Mirror. Aison has composed for the series Wayward Pines, The Kingdom, and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, but Prey is the first component film for which he has created the major content. Jhane Meyers and John Davis created Prey. Meyers is a member of the Comanche Nation who focuses her filming on indigenous peoples and their cultures.

Prey will be the fifth instalment in the long-running Predator franchise. The primary Predator film, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as a Commando facing off against the predator in a Central American rainforest, was a huge financial success and a thrilling experience. With Alien, the series also established a get-over film franchise that consisted of only two films: Alien against Hunter and Alien versus Hunter: Requiem. The Predator, the most recent film in the franchise, had a modest box office success but received a mostly negative reception from critics.

Beginning August 5, Prey will be available to view on Hulu. Look at the genuine abstract of the film below:

“Set in the Comanche Nation many years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young lady named Naru, who is a fierce and incredibly brilliant champion. She grew up in the shadow of some of the most incredible trackers in the Great Plains, so when her camp is threatened, she resolves to protect her family. The prey she pursues and eventually defeats is a highly developed outsider hunter with a well-developed arsenal, resulting in a terrifying and unsettling standoff between the two antagonists.”
