Why Riverdale Has Been Cancelled And Is Ending After Season 7

Riverdale will end its run on The CW in its upcoming 7th season. The CW has recently declared that Riverdale has been dropped and that season 7 will be the series’ last season.

Since Riverdale initially appeared on The CW in 2017, the drama has stood out as truly newsworthy with its wild storylines, hilarious content and notorious cast.

All through the past couple of seasons, the town of Riverdale has been threatened by everything from the Black Hood to the Gargoyle King. Also, Betty and Archie created real superpowers in the last season.

Riverdale was renewed for Season 7 in March, alongside fellow CW shows The Flash, All American, Superman and Lois, Walker, Kung Fu and Nancy Drew. Season 6 is right now airing Sundays at 8/7c; Season 7 is being held for the midseason, to be aired at some point in 2023.

As of late, fans have required the hit show to conclude and presently The CW is saying farewell to it.

Why Riverdale Has Been Canceled And Is The Show Ending After Season 7?

The CW Television Network Chairman and CEO, Mark Pedowitz, informed TVLine on Thursday, May 19, declaring Season 7 would be its last.

Riverdale is concluding as according to maker Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and the cast, seven years was the ideal opportunity to wrap the show. Right now, an official release date for Season 7 has not been given however The CW has confirmed it will end in 2023.

Pedowtiz shared: “I’m a big believer in endeavouring to give series that have had long runs a proper farewell.

“We had a significant discussion with [executive producer] Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] yesterday, who is excited by this information, and we will treat the show in the way it merits… We need to ensure it goes out the correct way.

“I think they, as well, felt that seven years is the perfect sum. As a fan myself, I would like to make the right decision for the show.”

Riverdale Season 6

Season 6 of Riverdale started the previous fall with a five-episode “Rivervale” event that saw Archie and company face a shocking series of supernatural experiences, with Kiernan Shipka swinging by to reprise her Netflix role as high schooler witch Sabrina Spellman.

It then returned in March with another time allotment and a new enemy in Percival Pickens (Chris O’Shea), the luxurious newbie who immediately assumed control over the town with his baffling mind-control powers.
